Basic Solar Power System

The basic components of a solar power system are,

1. Solar Panel.
   Converts light energy to electric energy through photovoltaic effect.


2. Charge Controller (regulator).
   Regulates the supply to the battery and prevents the battery from overcharging.


3. Battery.
   Stores the DC power from the solar panel.For solar panel, deep cycle battery needs to be used.In later sections I will discuss what a deep cycle battery is and how it is different from conventional batteries.


4. Converts DC to AC power for use by appliance. The inverter output has to synch with the line output frequency and has to be few volts higher than the grid input voltage of 220V.
